Word has quickly spread regarding the county in Florida that voted 4-3 to halt fluoridation to about 700,000 residents. The vote comes despite pleas from dentists and health officials that say fluoride reduces dental illness and lowers dental costs. It is interesting with all of the data now available about the health risks associated with fluoride (cancer, reduced IQ and deteriorating bones) that dentists would advocate the use of it.

The decision was more politically motivated than health related, however Commissioner John Morroni said the county government should not be telling people they have to have fluoride in their water.
The US Department of Health and Human Services proposed reducing the fluoride level to 0.7 milligrams per liter of water due to a reported increase in spots on children’s teeth, attributed to too much fluoride. “The CDC has also put out a warning: While using fluoridated water is safe, infants that consume formula exclusively with fluoridated water have an increased chance of fluorosis — faint white spots on teeth. To lessen that chance, the agency recommends using bottled water sometimes.” Link to the full article from tampabay.com
We often wonder that if a huge protection agency is suggesting using bottled water for infants formula, how good could this be for humans consuming fluoride in their water for life.
